EuroScience and the ESOF local organizers wish to encourage and promote the participation of graduate students and early stage researchers (PhD candidates and Post-Docs) in ESOF2016. The ScienceBus project aims to facilitate such participation by subsidizing their travel to Manchester from across Europe by chartered bus.
This project is based on the successful Barcelona and Torino Science Bus event, realized by the ESOF2008 and ESOF2010 teams, that brought students to Barcelona and Torino. The Science Bus participants will be offered a very low conference fee 75£, the possibility to be hosted in low-cost accommodations in Manchester, and onsite assistance provided by EuroScience and local organisers. Selected participants will have access to all ESOF2016 programmes as well as to specific sessions dedicated to young researchers.
Without your support many brilliant young European minds will not be able to participate in the largest scientific event in Europe. For many such young researchers the ESOF has the potential to be a life-changing experience. By sponsoring the ESOF ScienceBus project your organization will demonstrate its commitment to the new generation of young scientists and the future of science and wellbeing in Europe.
The ScienceBus project will be organized by EuroScience and the European Young Researchers Platform (EYRP) that gathers a variety of European organizations such as Eurodoc, Maria Curie Fellows Association, Young Academy of Europe and others. Together, EYRP and its contributing organizations have direct access to tens of thousands of young researchers from all scientific fields. In sponsoring a ScienceBus, your organization will have the chance to participate in the recruitment and selection of participants, providing access to the best European young scientists in your field of interest and facilitating future collaboration with these rising stars. Finally, sponsoring an ESOF ScienceBus will bring broad media coverage (both traditional and modern internet media) to your organization. Past forums have been attended by hundreds of journalists, and one or two journalists will be recruited to travel with each ScienceBus.
By supporting ScienceBus you will promote your organization among a young generation of European researchers, enabling them to:
Listen to the presentations of and participate in discussions with prominent scientists, including Nobel Laureates
Learn more about Science Policy and meet high-level European and national politicians.
Discuss the connections between science and business with business representatives and learn what research in companies looks like
Become aware of the latest scientific developments in their fields of research as well as other relevant disciplines
At ESOF young researchers will have an opportunity to communicate and discuss their research with many scientists and researchers from a number of disciplines and countries.
About 500 science journalists are expected to attend the meeting, including journalists from the most prominent science magazines as well as mainstream newspapers and electronic media from across Europe.
